Power Supply Issues

Published by webmodelsindex on February 27th, 2013 - in Uncategorized

My work computer power supply fried itself today. I have temporarily moved the USB storage (all the content that is on Web Models Index, as well as some new content that has yet to be added) to my shit computer, but it’s a shit computer. I can make blog posts like this on it, but for anything else it’s pretty much useless. Reason why I bring this up is because I need a new 1200w power supply, but can’t afford it right now (it’s near the end of the month, bills have been paid, etc..). If anyone feels like chipping in to get me a new one, just click here. All donations will be put towards your user accounts on Web Models Index once user accounts are made active again.

Thanks

- WMI

Update: Just want to add that I’ll be getting one on the 1st anyways, so you don’t have to donate if you don’t want to. Not being able to use my work computer is what kept me from adding content yesterday, and will prevent content from being added until it’s replaced. I was going to keep it to myself, but I’m bored as hell not being able to work on the site, lol. I usually spend 8 or so hours a day processing content or coding the site.

Registering at WMINews

Published by webmodelsindex on February 14th, 2013 - in Uncategorized

If you have registered at WMINews and did not receive the confirmation email with your code, simply request password. Not sure why the register email sometimes doesn’t go through, but forgot password always does.

I just now got home. Car had broke down on the freeway, so I got home a bit late. Just letting you know the review is going to be slightly delayed.

Inet-Cash Woes

Published by webmodelsindex on December 31st, 2012 - in Uncategorized

It would seem that a blog can be used for more than just updates to the Fame-Girls website. Who would have thought? :P

I got a check last week from Inet-Cash (German based CC processing, like CCBill) for €34,25 (Yes, a comma on the check). I take it to my bank to get it deposited, and they could not do it. At first, they thought it was for 34 thousand euros. I was like, “I wish!”,  but I told them they use commas instead of periods. The teller was no help, so she sent me to the branch manager. She was no help, so she had me talk to her manager. Again, nothing. It was like they had no idea what a euro was.

So I’m there in the bank (Chase), sitting for an hour waiting for them to figure out what to do with this check. They made some calls, looked things up in the computer, and even consulted the help section for deposits on their computes about 6 times. They were clueless. Near the end, the manager tells me that its a business check, and that I need a business account to deposit it. So I said, “okay, sign me up for a business bank account”. She looks at me confused, and then says that even if we did, she couldn’t cash it. I literally slapped my forehead (no joke). She then tells me that it would need be processed manually, and it would go through in about 2 to 3 weeks. I said that was fine, and left.

Long story short, do any of you have any idea how to cash a check in the United States that was sent from a foreign country and is printed in euros? For future reference. I still have some more content to add that uses Inet-Cash as an affiliate.

Thanks!

Registering @ WMI News

Published by webmodelsindex on December 18th, 2012 - in Uncategorized

Because WMI News and Web Models Index are adult related websites, some email companies (such as Yahoo) don’t let the registration email go through. So, if you registered to wminews.com and didn’t receive your password in the mail, simply use the Forgot Password form. Yahoo (those evil monkeys) will allow that to go through.

Check your spam folder too, just incase.

Fame-Girls Ella For Christmas

Published by webmodelsindex on December 13th, 2012 - in Uncategorized

Fame-Girls Ella Christmas Special

As we all know (at least I hope so, and that you’re not really living under a rock), Christmas time is approaching. The holidays for me isn’t something I go all out on. I have a small family, and we normally don’t do anything for Christmas. Sure, we exchange presents, but we don’t decorate with lights, and I haven’t had a Christmas Tree since I was a little kid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bitter. I prefer it simple. Just letting you guys get to know the person behind the reviews a bit more.

In six more days, it will be exactly one and a half years that I have been running this blog. Three times a week, every week, for 18 months. That may not seem like a lot to most of you, but for me, I feel kind of proud that I’ve stuck with it for this long.

Out of those 18 months, I have never broke even when it came making more than I had to pay. That’s mainly my fault, since wminews and webmodelsindex is pretty much the first business thing I tried. Still learning the ropes I guess, and I’ll get their eventually. However, this month, because of loyal readers, I finally broke even. Haven’t made a profit yet, but at least I broke even. I had a total of 7 donations since I removed the Linkbucks links in the blog, and added a donation link. That makes a total of 9 donations for the lifetime of my sites (first 2 were over two years ago). I don’t remember the first two from way back when, but here are the 7 I received this month.

  • $1 from T.W.
  • $5 from S.M.
  • $5 from J.B.
  • $5 from L.M.F.
  • $10 from Echo
  • $20 from G.G.
  • $100 from R.S.

You guys are awesome, and I want to thank you for your donations.

This month I may have broke even, but I’m requesting help with a goal. I would like to raise $500 from you guys this month, to help cover server costs for January, February and March. With the revenue I make for those 3 months, $500 from you guys would allow me to break even, and actually pay for some more content for the site. 100% of the donations that come in will go directly into the server balance. I’ll also update this thread each time a donation comes in, so you guys can see the progress and know when to stop donating.

Goal: $500 ($-46.73 remaining)

Police Virus (Ransomware) Alert

Published by echo on November 28th, 2012 - in Uncategorized

Having been infected twice now with this in as many weeks, I thought I’d do this post in case any of you guys get it too, as it’s a particularly aggressive one.

Apparently this is now quite a prolific virus, so I’m posting here a link to a very helpful video that will clean it out for you.

1st thing is, if you do get this virus – Don’t Panic – it IS just a virus
2nd thing is – Don’t Pay It … perhaps make that the 1st thing actually

It locks up your computer under the pretence of being from the police detecting illegal activity and such bullshit, and asks for $100 (or whatever) to unlock it, otherwise they (the ‘authorities’) will begin proceedings against you.
And it seems a lot of people are falling for it.
It will look something like this -

http://postimage.org/image/f6jihoj8p/

Obviously this one was for the UK , but it will be customized for your country.

It’s nasty, and it’s most recent variant will use your webcam to take a shot of you too (just to induce more alarm).
Unsurprisingly this seems to have originated from Russia, and lurked on Russian porn sites, but has spread now.

It’s staggeringly difficult to find good, straight forward instructions on how to remove it – trust me, I had to trawl through a LOT of guff and the usual morons uploading half-arsed advice – but eventually I found one.

This guy (Brian from Britec) has quite a few other videos explaining how to remove various viruses, malware etc. so it’s worth keeping note of him anyway, even if you’re not affected by this particular virus.
He doesn’t try to sell you anything, and the software he references is excellent and free.
The fact that he sounds like Holly from Red Dwarf reassured me too (a friendly version of the HAL9000 on-board computer from 2001, for those not familiar with it)

So get yourself on another computer and follow the instructions given and you’ll be fine.
I also recommend following his advice about downloading Malware Bytes and Hitman Pro, and running those too, as they flushed out a long standing virus on my system that the usual paid and free anti-virus software couldn’t even see.

If you did fall for this Ransomware and paid up (even then it doesn’t necessarily unlock your computer !), well, just put it down to experience & you could inform your authorities about it, giving them the UKash /PaySafeCard/ …   code you supplied, it could actually help them to track them down, at least then you might have a hand in catching the fuckers :)

~~ Love echo ~~

- Quick Edit from WMI –

This virus was not obtained from wminews.com or webmodelsindex.com. Echo should have mentioned that. Silly him.
