It seems the current monthly contest, the banner contest, wasn’t very popular. At the time of this post, there was only one submission. So instead of having people use creativity to win a 1 month free membership, I decided I’m going to change the way people can win.
Once the new site goes live, there will be two types of monthly contests. One will be a lottery/bingo system, where you choose 7 numbers, and each day a number will be randomly chosen via php coding. The first person who get’s all 7 numbers, will win. No one is allowed to choose 7 of the same numbers, and you can choose your 7 numbers on any day of the month. However, if you do not pick your numbers before the lottery system starts, when you do pick your numbers, you won’t be allowed to choose numbers which were already drawn.
For example, if you logged in on the 7th of the month, and the numbers “3, 7, 13, 19, 22, 27 and 29″ were already drawn, you may not choose any of those numbers as part of your 7. The sooner you pick your numbers, the sooner your chances are of winning. You may think that waiting allows you to win easier since you have 7 numbers out of 23 instead of 7 numbers out of 30, but when you think about it, those first 7 numbers could have been ones you already chose.
Once you do choose your 7 numbers, you won’t need to change them again for future lottery contests. You can if you want, but you don’t need to. You can keep those numbers forever. Which also means you will be the only one who has them, since no one can have the same 7 numbers are you. This ensures that there is only one winner each month. People could have 6 of the same numbers, but never 7. Don’t worry, there are plenty of different combinations of numbers. 21,870,000,000 to be exact.
The second type of monthly contest will be a scavenger hunt. I will edit one random image on the site (that only members can see), and the first member who finds it, wins. Sounds easy, right? Well, it’s not. At the time of this post, there are anywhere from 50,000 to 65,000 images (I don’t know the exact number).
The scavenger hunt requires active participation to win. Whereas the lottery contest does not (You only have to log in once to enter your numbers). Each month will rotate between the two.
Winners of the monthly contest can not win again for 3 months (so if you win in July, you’re not eligible to win again until November). Winners will also get their name displayed as a different color for comments, and will have the option of being able to turn off ads on the site. And of course, winners will also win a 1 month free membership to a site of their choice.
